Backpack Buddies Changing the lives of children one weekend at a time.    Backpack Buddies is an organization dedicated to reducing the effects of childhood hunger by providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare food over the weekend to children residing in food-insecure homes in Lawrence County, Ohio. Backpack Buddies serves children and families in Lawrence County, Ohio through our Backpack Program and Emergency Food program. ReBUILD Huntington "Sometimes, you have to give people the help where they are and not wait till they get to where you think they should be." Our goal at ReBUILD is to build relationships with the people in the neighborhood. Through that relationship, we can tell them about the love that Jesus has for them! NO MATTER WHAT! Our mission statement is simple "Love Like Jesus." River Cities Community Church started a new ministry called Kids Helping Kids. One project this new ministry is working on is a Community Garden. Like all the Kids Helping Kids projects, the gifts of food will include a gospel component such as tracts and invitations to our worship services and special events.              The kids will help plant, cultivate, and harvest a variety of vegetables. Brief lessons will be taught from God's Word that relates to planting, sowing, watering, and the harvest to make physical connections to spiritual truths. What is The Neighborhood? The Neighborhood's aim is to provide a safe, secure, clean, and convenient one-stop center for those in need of assistance in the northeastern Kentucky region. Part of the mission’s goal is to increase employability and reduce the risk of homelessness for families in the region. With multiple nonprofits located together in a common location, The Neighborhood can facilitate access to services and help meet the needs of families served. Rhonda Lee created a small food pantry in her basement to help those in need during the pandemic. Rhonda says she has strived to find ways to give back to the community after others helped her when she lost everything in a flash flood in 1995.
