“Jacqueline, dear, do not speak unless you can improve the silence.”  (Movie Quote)   I love this line. Even though it was spoken adversely in the movie, there is so much wisdom in these words and such great advice for us as Christ Followers.  Yes, we are called to take a stand for the hope we have in Christ, but sometimes, the best way to do that is to be silent and let God work in the hearts and minds of people in conflict with us.  Jesus modeled this on several occasions when confronted to reveal Himself, defend Who He is, or speak on a cultural issue. He quoted Scripture, gave a parable, or He stayed silent. No matter which method, He always pointing to His Father.  The world needs Jesus. The most consistent part of my life is my ability to blunder. Mostly little things, but I do manage some doozies. Nothing I really feel the need to confess right now, but, stay tuned, you never know where this thing might end up!! It’s pretty easy to share the little things. At least they’re usually good for a laugh. But the big things…those we hide in the deepest part of our psyche and pray they never surface. But, sharing faults is essential. It keeps us humble, yes, but it also shows others what God has brought us through and gives us a way to connect others to Jesus. Think about it. If you have something you use to struggle with or something you did or maybe even still do, burying it behind guilt and shame allows it to hold you prisoner gives satan a foothold in your life. I love flowers. I’ve tried a few beds, but they don’t last long in my care. Although, we do have a patch of greenery right beside our house. It’s a cheaters garden really because it was there when we bought the house and just grows on its own. The only maintenance I do is pull weeds from time to time.  Although…I can’t always distinguish a weed from a flower. Some weeds are beautiful. They live among the flowers and look almost too pretty to pull. But I’ve learned that if I don’t pull them, they’ll choke out the real flowers and rob them of nutrients and water.  The same is true in our lives. Sin can masquerade as something good, much like a weed can masquerade as a flower.  It takes root and grows without any effort on our part. And, before we know it, it will consume the good
