I am again writing for Prayers for my son, Derek, as his leukemia has returned. Back in 2019, you all prayed and followed his journey into remission in 2020, but now he has a new journey toward beating this disease again. His team of doctors at The James in Columbus, Ohio, will be meeting today to come up with a treatment plan, which could involve a bone marrow transplant. Derek has come a long way in this journey from being at death's door to only beat it, surprising his doctors, who thought he would never leave the hospital alive. God showed them what He could do! and I know that He will do it again. This time is going to be harder financially for the family as he may have to stay in Columbus for a long period of time and also have to have someone stay with him.. His wife can not quit her job as a teacher, as her income and benefits is all they have. We are not sure how we will be able to finance his living there away from us. They said he lives too far away in Huntington if something were to happen and he would need to be at the hospital quickly in Columbus, Ohio. This is going to be very hard on his 6yr old son as he is now old enough to understand what is going on with his dad. It will be a while before I can help, as I am still recovering from surgery. My sister, who helped last time, has family members with other illnesses, and our Mother has Dementia. So to say our plates are full and now this is back. Pray for all of us as well that we can figure out how to help like we did last time.. God is good!
